About Us
GROMODEL IS A BESPOKE MENTORING ORGANISATION
working with disadvantaged young people that are involved in crime, or at risk of criminal exploitation. At GroModel, we help young people grow in character, life-goals and aspiration.
Each mentor is a GroModel (role model) - a person that is principled, a leader-figure and who is able to use similar experiences to better the life of a young person.
Most importantly, each mentor is vigorously screened. This includes a DBS check and contacting references to ensure GroModels are suitable to work with young people.
We work with 12-17 year olds; this is the common age for delinquency yet an age where it is possible to lay a positive foundation in their lives through mentoring.
Who we help
Non-attending or excluded from schools, facing unemployment and poverty, judged as particularly vulnerable by children’s social care, youth offending service, schools, people referral units and direct referrals from families.
Our Philosophy
We focus on character, life-goals and aspiration which has proven to be effective in the growth of the young people we work with. The national average re-offending rate is 42%. However, our rate is at 15%. In addition, 85% of young people decided to leave gang involvement upon completion of the programme.
